GUIDELINES FOR PDF FILES

Sending Electronic Files

Electronics media is encouraged but we will also accept film right reading, emulsion down. We prefer PDF, EPS or TIFF format. Use ‘print optimized’ settings when creating PDF. Type and important subject matter must be kept at least .25" inside final trim edge.

If you send creative files, we will accept files composed in QuarkExpress, Freehand, Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker or Corel Draw with all fonts included and images (300 dpi CMYK). Colour images must be CMYK and Single colour corrected to grayscale.

We can retrieve files from an advertiser’s FTP site. It requires notification to our email address. Be sure to compress the files. Files can be sent by email to idyb@vsnl.com or idyb.ads@gmail.com.

You may also send large files through www.transferbigfiles.com, which requires no registration or password.

Files which require significant additional work will incur additional preparation charges.

Proofs required: progressive press proofs, contact, colour laser or black & white laser. 150-line screen. We cannot guarantee colour match.

Sending PDF Files

For high quality printing, a PDF file must contain the appropriate images, fonts and other components.

By default, Adobe PDF Maker creates PDF files using the standard settings, which do not meet the requirements fro most high-end printing. Ensure that you use the Press-Quality PDF settings.

Commercial high quality offset printing requires PDF/X compliance. Select PDF/X-1a to create a PDF document Include files/images that contain CMYK or grayscale colours only.

PDF/X-1a requires all fonts to be embedded, and images to be in 300 dpi resolution.

Our page size is 16cm x 23.5cm, hence your output size should be at least 17cm x 24.5cm to accommodate trim marks and registration marks.

In case PDF files received are non PDF/X-1a compliant, we will try for best match by importing into Corel Draw and rectifying errors but cannot guarantee font and colour match.

You may send open file in original application also, for us to create appropriate PDF file, if necessary.
