About the Editor

Lt Gen (Retd) RK Jasbir Singh, PVSM, was commissioned in the 4th Gorkha Rifles and was later transferred to the Jat Regiment, where he was appointed the Colonel of the Regiment for ten years.

He has served with the Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission in Korea and United Nations in Congo.

He has been in action in all the wars fought since Independence. In 1971 he commanded 191 Infantry Brigade, which bore the brunt of the Pakistani offensive in the Western Sector.

At the peak of the insurgency , General RK Jasbir Singh served in the Naga Hills. Later, he commanded 15 Corps in Jammu & Kashmir. He retired as the Military Secretary, Army Headquarters in 1983.

Fond of outdoor activities, he is a voracious reader and writes for professional journals. His first book "Handbook of Military Science and Armament Technology" published in 1983 is read widely. He writes regularly for other difence journals.

Thrice conferred with the Army Chief’s Commendation Card, he was awarded the PVSM for distinguished service as General Officer Commanding 15 Corps in jammu & Kashmir.

The General has been elected as a member of the Council of the United Service Institution of India, a number of times.
